After several years in product development at Fortune 500 corporations, Loretta Harland, PMP founded PM Trailblazer to help companies with their project management, product development, training, and workshop facilitation needs.
PM stands for project management. The definition of Trailblazer: one that blazes a trail to guide others.
She developed children’s toys, furniture and backyard products at the Little Tikes company. Over a twenty-year span, she held several roles, including Vice President of Engineering & Global Product Development. During that time, the company introduced up to one hundred new products a year. Loretta credits her team’s project management skills as being the key to success in reaching the company’s strategic goals on time and within budget.
Loretta also developed products in the aircraft business, launched enterprise-wide software in the automotive and healthcare businesses, developed online training for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and more. Throughout her career she has traveled around the world and trained over a thousand people.
Her project management work extends into her volunteer work, where she leads mission trips and volunteers for organizations who help homeless people. She occasionally leads projects and provides coaching and facilitation for non-profit organizations.
In 2019 she leveraged her Lean project management skills to train for and successfully finish several triathlons, from sprint distance to Olympic distance, half Ironman® and the full Chattanooga Ironman®.
In 2020 she published her first book: Applying Lean Project Management.
Loretta holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Industrial Technology and is a certified Project Management Professional® (PMP) through the Project Management Institute.
